Life in a Clay Pot

It started when God said, "Light up the darkness!" and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful.

If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us. "

2 Corinthians 4:6-7
The Message

It was puzzling when my dear class laughed with such glee when I told them that life is like a claypot. But I did not say that in jest, and here is a bible reference that points to the source of my little analogy.

As Christians we carry the light of Christ in us. Like what Paul said in the verse above, our physical bodies are insignificant when compared to the message of salvation in Christ that we carry in us. Let it be that people who see us see the power of God who lives in us, not lifting up the earthen vessels of our lives above the maker who shapes us all.

It is paradoxical that unadorned clay pots are the very things that God uses to reflect His Glory, but then again, our God is well known for using the common things of this world for His own Glory.

Are we ready to be molded by Him, used for His purpose, and strengthened in the cauldron of trials and temptations and emerge worthy vessels for the most High God?
