Jogging in Real Life

Last night i went for a jog with a good friend, and we ended running about 10 km. What I learnt from the experience was that running the distance with a friend made the difference. If I were to run on my own, without the encouragement and the accountability that a running-mate provides, I know that giving up too quickly would have been easy.

There were six slopes along the route which were a real challenge. As I got more weary, the legs felt heavy and climbing up the steep slopes became terribly difficult. On many occasions, I contemplated quitting. Yet I did not, inspired in part by my friend who believed I could run the race and would simply not give up on me.

After some time I stopped thinking about the finish line and concentrated on winning small victories. Conquering each slope brought fresh motivation and confidence to forge ahead.

As I reflect on this, I am convinced that if we will not, then we surely cannot. Will is an important ingredient to overcoming our trials in life. Looking towards Jesus who assures us of His presence makes that tumble in life a little easier to take.

How we get to the finish line in our lives matters to God. As we win small victories, we grow in character. Therefore perseveres and dont give up!
