Home at last

After 2 days sleeping in camp, resting on my own bed at home never feel this good. It was hard trying to get to sleep on an unfamiliar bed, sharing with five others in the bunk, but I survived that, and i will survive the remaining 18 days. All for the good of our nation.

The thing I miss most is the internet. I am beginning to think I am addicted to checking email, and embarassingly, chatting on the internet. Now with DoTa, I am adding a new vice to this small list. The buck stops here.

What shall I do with the precious few hours of freedom granted to me? First of all, I want to watch War of the Worlds and tomorrow I will keep my promise to Eric and watch him perform for Youth Sunday. If Kenny and Daryl will be there, it will be a great opportunity to say hello to them too and convey my best wishes.

This army thing is of course a very interesting experience, though I worry much about growing fat with very little to do and plenty to eat. Living together with other men who dont normally cross my path in life is a very unique experiment, albeit excruciating at time. But it teaches humility and patience.

Speaking of patience, I have plenty of training in exercising patience in the army. It is fascinating how things are so slow moving in the army. As Sean has aptly put it, the army now is no different from the army I left 13 years ago. Perhaps only more techno savvy.

I think I will go catch my movie now, and savour the few hours I have left.
