Downside of teaching

Once in a while things happen that make us re-examine the reasons why we do what we do. Yesterday was just one of those days.

It is really hard to teach those who feel that it was more important to be elsewhere. Of course what they had to do was important, but that was done at the expense of curriculum time that was rightfully mine. It was not like I had nothing new to teach, in fact I had prepared some materials for a new lesson that would have helped build the foundation for subsequent lessons. But now I have to re-teach it, thanks to the thoughtless actions of students who only think of themselves.

It is very trying when we have to deal with inconsiderate students. Sigh.
