Trees do not grow overnight. I remembered when I was much younger and less wise, I once lovingly placed a seed in the earth and waited patiently to watch the seed sprout leaves and grow into a plant. After much waiting, I gave up as the seed refused to do anything at all.
Even after much watering and excessive amount of fertilisers, that stubborn seed refused to let out even a miserable leaf. I was obviously crestfallen. It took a few weeks for the seed to grow into a young sapling. Funny enough that happened when I was not even looking.
The moral of the story is this. We must be patient for good things to happen. Learning to appreciate mathematics would probably take longer time than the seed to grow, so I would think that students should not feel frustrated when their efforts seem to bear little fruit (forgive me the punt). With perseverence, dedication and much prayer your effort to unravel the mystery of mathematics will meet with much success.
